Guest Pick: Best Bookstore

UNLV PROFESSOR FELICIA CAMPBELL

Felicia Campbell reads a lot, and not just for her official gigs as a University of Nevada, Las Vegas English professor, longtime KNPR-FM 89.5 book reviewer and student of popular culture.

Nope, Campbell reads mostly because she enjoys it. And when she shops for books, Campbell often enjoys stopping by Borders bookstore, 1445 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

The store has "a really nice, pleasant coffee area and the ambience is kind of nice," she says.

"Ambience is really important to me," Campbell adds, particularly given the lure of online booksellers whose point-and-click ordering systems make purchasing a volume almost too easy.

"If I can go someplace, and they're really pleasant and act like they're actually glad to see you in there, and they're helpful, and you can sit down and have a nice cup of coffee, things like that, I think, are really important," Campbell says.
