Guest Pick: Best Place to Walk or Jog

PRO BOXER STEVE FORBES

Steve Forbes, 23, knows a lot about working out. He's the International Boxing Federation's world champion in the junior lightweight division.

A resident of Las Vegas since 1996, Forbes has a favorite place to walk and a different favorite place to jog.

"I just walk to loosen up," says Forbes, who likes to do so at Sunset Park, 2601 E. Sunset Road, "because it's roomy. I like that little trail that goes around the whole park pretty much."

When he's training for a match, Forbes' routine includes jogging five miles a day, five days a week. And in his opinion, the best place to do that is at Mount Charleston.

"The air is clean. There's not so much traffic. The hills keep me in great shape for my matches," Forbes explains. His practice entails parking his car near U.S. 95, and then heading uphill on state Route 156. As the terrain switches between hilly and flat, Forbes says, "I kind of jog, and I kind of walk."
