Guest Pick: Best Coffee

STRONGMAN MARK PHILIPPI

Even the strongest man needs a little pick-me-up occasionally and the director of strength and conditioning at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Mark Philippi, is no exception.

America's Strongest Man in 1997 and currently the strength coach for UNLV's football team, Philippi gets his boost in a paper cup from his favorite coffee stop, Starbucks, at multiple locations throughout the valley.

Philippi has twice made it to the World's Strongest Man competition. Though it's not the source of his strength, a strong cup of java makes pulling trucks, throwing telephone poles and carrying small boulders a little easier.

"Every morning before I come to work I stop and get the biggest cup they have," Philippi said. "Just regular coffee. I'm hard-core, none of those fancy drinks."
