Guest Pick: Best Spa

Comedian Jimmie "J.J." Walker

The former Resort at Summerlin, later Regent Las Vegas and now JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd., may have struggled a lot to get people in the front door. But one of the great things about the hotel's 40,000-square-foot spa, says Jimmie "J.J." Walker, is that the vibe is very "John Tesh. You will never hear Metallica at the Regent."

"It's a great place for both relaxation and working out, and staff cooperation. They're very nice people. And, of course, there's no one there, so it's fabulous," he says. "They have the good screens on the cardio (machines). There's a guy who offers towels. I don't know if we should give that guy a tip while we're standing there naked. And I don't know what constitutes a tip in that instance. 'Hello! Thank you!'"

"And there's never anybody in the parking lot. You can pull right up in the parking lot and back up to the gaming area. There's one guy at the card table. And there's a lovely senior citizen waiting to hit triple sevens."
