Mac King considers himself such a hamburger aficionado that he almost never utters the word "hamburger" by itself. "I prefer the much more descriptive phrase, 'hamburger sandwich,' " he tells us.

"So believe me when I beseech you to get in your car right now. Drive south down Las Vegas Boulevard a ways," he says. "Keep your eyes peeled, 'cause it's easy to drive right by the little Schoop's sign on the side of Jay's Market. That's right, the best hamburger sandwich in Las Vegas is to be found in the back of a gas station."

"Grilled to a yummy, messy flawlessness," he says, the half-pound sandwich has a crunchy edge "that I've never encountered elsewhere. The only thing that's not perfect about Schoop's is that I drive past it every day on my way home from work, and it takes all my willpower to not eat there every single day."
