Charlie Spoonhour may be an Elvis fan -- he saw a young Elvis sing "Mystery Train" in concert before Elvis hit it big. But Spoonhour also listens to a lot of Frank Sinatra. So, it's only natural that he enjoys taking in lounge shows by Bobby Barrett, who sings Sinatra songs in Sinatra's style.
Barrett, who performed at the Brown Derby at the MGM Grand for five years, sings in lounges around town.
"I think he's got enough of the style and the mannerisms," Spoonhour says. "And his voice is similar enough. ... He gives you a little (biographical) background. Some of it you might know, and some of it you don't."
Does Spoonhour ever sing his favorite Sinatra tune, "The Second Time Around," at work?
"Sure. Oh, yeah. See," he says, "I love to sing, but I can't sing."
