Allegiant Air adds nonstop service from New Orleans-North Carolina

NEW ORLEANS — Allegiant Air is adding a new year-round nonstop service between New Orleans and Concord, North Carolina.

Allegiant said Tuesday the route is the fourth it has added this year at Louis Armstrong International Airport. The Las Vegas-based airline will offer twice weekly flights from Concord Regional Airport to New Orleans starting Nov. 18.

In a statement, Allegiant CEO Jude Bricker said the airline wants to cater to North Carolina vacationers interested in planning a trip to New Orleans. NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports flights will leave on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with return flights departing Louis Armstrong later in the day. The airline has announced a promotional deal offering one-way fare from Concord to New Orleans for as low as $45. The offer ends Friday.

Allegiant spokeswoman Stephanie Pilecki said the airline has a team that follows and analyzes travel patterns. Analysts recognized “pent up demand” for a route connecting Concord and Allegiant seeks to fill that demand, she said.

Allegiant Air was founded in 1997 to provide low-cost flights from smaller U.S. cities to vacation destinations across the country. It has added nine New Orleans routes since it launched flights at Louis Armstrong last year.

Routes added this year include a seasonal nonstop to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and nonstop year-round flights to Jacksonville and St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida.

It currently offers connections from Concord to four vacation destinations in Florida, including Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers-Punta Gorda, Orlando-Sanford and St. Petersburg-Clearwater.
