East side gets first diagnostic facility

Desert Radiologists has opened a new diagnostic imaging office in northeast Las Vegas at 31 N. Nellis Blvd., bringing outpatient radiology services to east side residents for the first time.

The new $2.5 million, 8,000-square-foot center accommodates the diagnostic imaging needs of many of the 165,000 hospitality workers and their families, who are covered through the Culinary Health Fund and live in the northeast area. Desert Radiologists and the Culinary Health Fund entered into an exclusive five-year contract for medical imaging services earlier this year.

A staff of 30, including board-certified radiologists and other specially trained technical and support personnel, provide a variety of imaging services: CT scan (computed tomography), DEXA scan or bone densitometry, fluoroscopy, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), mammography, ultrasound or sonography, and X-ray.

Desert Radiologists also was awarded the Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence accreditation from the American College of Radiology for its Palomino imaging center.

A push for youth jobs

Springdale Job Corps will be the featured presenter Oct. 8 when the Small Business Majority launches a webinar series as part of its national sign-on campaign asking small employers to pledge to create professional opportunities for young people. The idea is to help bridge the gap between youth who are out of school and out of work, and small businesses having a hard time filling entry-level positions.

This series is open to all small businesses across the country and is free to attend.

“It is important for small business owners to know that helping young people and making a profit are not mutually exclusive,” said Jarvez Hall, workforce initiatives manager for Small Business Majority. “Small-business owners from across the country have pledged their commitment to expanding opportunities for today’s youth. As a result, many have benefited from new sources of skilled entry-level talent.”

This webinar series will discuss how youth unemployment affects the economy and local communities, how small businesses can be part of the solution and how small businesses can incorporate direct youth hires, internships, apprenticeships, mentorships and job shadow programs into their daily business.

A question and answer period will follow the discussion. To view or sign the pledge, please visit: www.smallbiz4youth.com.

Webinar dates, times and registration links are 9 a.m. Oct. 8 at https://cc.readytalk.com/r/94pnp6mhk38j&eom and Oct. 23 at 12 p.m. at https://cc.readytalk.com/r/dzk1ytdx14h5&eom.

Nonprofits get matchmaker

Moonridge Group is working to elevate community engagement in Las Vegas with its new Board Matchmaker database, which strategically places individuals seeking opportunities on nonprofit boards with nonprofit organizations seeking new volunteer leaders.

“The greatest challenge is taking an intention and executing it as an action,” said Anna Auerbach, vice president of strategy and special projects at Moonridge Group.

Board Matchmaker’s fee-free service is based on a simple survey that categorizes individuals on personal background, sector of interest, monetary giving level, and time available to dedicate as a board member. Moonridge Group’s philanthropic experts will then pair the individual with an organization based on its needs in the areas of time, financial commitment and expertise.

The soft launch was in August.

Double the service

Partner marketing agencies Allied Integrated Marketing and 87AM have opened an office together in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas inside the historical Holsum Lofts at 241 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 150.

Both agencies serve entertainment, consumer and lifestyle clients including as agency of record for entertainment for The Venetian and Palazzo and Terry Fator: The Voice of Entertainment at The Mirage.

“Las Vegas is entertainment — it is woven into every chapter of the city’s existence and it’s the thread that connects the city’s businesses together,” Allied President Clint Kendall said. “Breaking ground and setting up shop in a market known as the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ is the next chapter and an exciting move for our organization.”

Adam Cunningham, CEO of 87AM added, “The Las Vegas digital and creative space is thriving and is completely in-line with the entrepreneurial spirit and organic growth of 87AM.”
