Food distributor selects northwest Arizona for facility

A major food redistribution company has chosen northwest Arizona over Southern Nevada for a distribution facility that will serve the southwest region.

Illinois-based Dot Foods Inc. intends to break ground on a 40-acre site in Mohave Valley late this year and open in late 2017.

Mohave County pledged $500,000 as incentive for the company that had considered an undisclosed Nevada location as a finalist. Dot Foods has agreed over a three-year period to provide at least 125 jobs, paying an average annual salary of slightly more than $43,000.

“Mohave County’s low tax environment, low cost of doing business and proximity to markets will provide Dot Foods the ideal location to service their Southwestern customers,” said county supervisor Steve Moss.

Senior Vice President Jim Tracy said what will become Dot Foods’ 11th distribution center will allow the company to better serve customers in Southern California, Southern Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. The company that employs more than 4,800 people across the country reportedly recorded $6.2-billion in sales last year.

“I am confident that Dot Foods will find success in Arizona and thank them for their commitment to our state,” Gov. Doug Ducey said in a statement.
