Palmer tapped as president, CEO of United Way

The United Way of Southern Nevada has named Cass Palmer president and chief executive officer.

In a statement, the nonprofit group said Palmer enters his role with more than 23 years of experience in gaming and hospitality, government and politics, nonprofit organizations and union environments. The group said Palmer will work to advance its local agenda of advancing the common good by focusing on education, income and health.

Before joining United Way, Palmer was senior vice president, chief human resource officer at Tropicana Entertainment Inc. Palmer has also worked as the corporate vice president of human resources for Olympia Gaming LLC/Southern Highlands Development Corp., corporate vice president of human resources for Boyd Gaming Corp. and senior vice president of human resources at Bally's/Park Place Entertainment.

Palmer earned his Bachelor of Science in business administration and his master's of business administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
