Go for the (fried) dough, it's apropos

Looking to spend a little dough this month? Maybe these tips can help direct your focus.

June 7 is National Doughnut Day, so if you’ve been looking to check out local doughnut shops, that might be the day to do it. Last year a few places around town offered free samples, so you might get a free treat, too, if you venture out to your local doughnut shop on the holiday.

However, if you’re looking for a more savory meal this month, it might cost you.

Beef hit an all-time peak for wholesale cost in late May, and the retail price is expected to keep rising as herds have thinned due to droughts, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Out of the food sector, June might be a good month to go shopping for lingerie.

Retail watch site DealNews reported that last June was filled with lingerie sales, and 2013 should bring more of the same. Retailers Victoria’s Secret, Frederick’s of Hollywood and Maidenform are among the brands that are expected to lower prices this month.
