Shoe, clothing designer opens Forum Shops store

Sam Edelman, a shoe and clothing designer, opened a 2,500-square-foot store Dec. 4 at the Forum Shops at Caesars.

The store, which will sell shoes, handbags and clothes, is the company's fifth in the United States and the third to open this year. The company opened a store in Paramus, N.J., in July and in Santa Clara, Calif., in November.

The company, started in 2004, has flagship stores in New York and Los Angeles.

Dagnall Folger of Architecture + Information designed the Forum Shops store.

"Having traveled the world and having seen every great retail location, I firmly believe the Forum Shops in Las Vegas is at the forefront of global retail. Opening a store there is a dream we have had for a very long time," Sam Edelman, designer, founder and division president for the Sam Edelman division of Caleres, a St. Louis shoe company, said in a statement.

An Edelman spokeswoman said the company plans to open eight more U.S. shops in 2016.

Caleres shares fell 20 cents, or 0.7 percent, Thursday to close at $28.52 on the Nasdaq.
