Southern Nevada Home Builders names director

Southern Nevada Home Builders Association has named Nathaniel Hodgson III as the new executive director, starting July 1.

He replaces Irene Porter, who is retiring June 30 after more than 35 years as executive director of the largest association representing the residential construction industry in Nevada.

Hodgson, 47, owner of Green Serenity Homes, has been active in the association since 1998, when he was an executive with Pulte Homes. He served as president in 2010 and was also a first vice president and second vice president.

He served as a member and chairman of several major committees, including codes, energy conservation, utilities and offsites, quality assurance, community planning and development, legislative and green building.

"As the new executive director, my primary goal is to continue to lead the association and the industry back to recovery after this severe economic downturn," Hodgson said.

The Maryland native served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1980s, and worked for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Co. for nearly six years in quality assurance.

Hodgson will be introduced at the SNHBA membership mixer set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. on June 21 at Cili at Bali Hai Golf Club.
