The Nevada Division of Insurance said Wednesday that it recovered nearly $4 million in 2012 from insurers on behalf of policyholders.
The payments resulted from division investigations into consumer complaints ranging from unpaid claims or refunds to fraud or credit owed.
The division looks into consumer complaints about coverage including: health insurance; life insurance and annuities; homeowner’s insurance; renter’s insurance; car insurance; motorcycle insurance; boat insurance; credit insurance; surety bonds; bail bonds; business insurance; title insurance; and extended warranties on appliances, electronics and cars.
The division received 1,922 complaints in 2012.
