Las Vegas-based GES acquires Atlanta’s ON Event Services

Las Vegas-based GES has acquired an Atlanta-based audio-visual production company to expand its ability to produce live events in conjunction with conventions and trade shows or stand-alone entertainment events.

The acquisition of ON Event Services, which produces more than 1,000 events a year for more than 800 clients, will give GES the ability to produce more live events over a broader presence.

Terms of the deal, announced Thursday, were not disclosed.

To be known as “ON Services, a GES Company,” the new division currently has 225 employees and can produce live events and audio-visual services to hotels, arenas and conference centers.

Among its existing clients are Coca-Cola, INFOR and World Financial Group. It also works with Marriott, Hilton, Westin, Embassy Suites and Sheraton hotel properties.

ON Services also is the preferred in-house provider of audio-visual services for 30 venues and six major concert facilities.

“It’s definitely a great day for GES,” said Steve Moster, president of GES and president and CEO of its Phoenix-based parent company, Viad Corp.

Moster said GES has handled much of its audio-visual work in-house and the addition of ON Services will enable the company to expand its reach and its technological offerings.

“They’re industry experts and real innovators,” Moster said of ON Services. “They have produced events on the very high end for several Fortune 1000 companies. Their innovation is what sets them apart from their competitors in the field.”

Moster said the company would continue to be based in Atlanta, but it’s possible that some employees would eventually shift to Las Vegas because of the large volume of convention and trade show production GES has in Southern Nevada and because of better access to the West Coast.

GES, which has 3,600 employees worldwide and more than 500 in Las Vegas, has more than 85 facilities around the world. GES contracted with more than 3,500 union laborers in Nevada in 2015.
