Two management changes announced for El Tiempo

Two changes in the management of El Tiempo were recently announced by Stephens Media LLC, owner of El Tiempo, the Spanish publication of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Gaby Jurica, former advertising manager of El Tiempo, was named publisher of El Tiempo by Mark Ficarra, chief revenue officer of Stephens Media.

“My goal is to continue to serve my people by giving them a dignified product that our community deserves,” Jurica said.

Ficarra said that the main objective is to grow and better serve the community by accomplishing changes and increasing circulation of the newspaper. He said Jurica is the right person to achieve those goals.

Jurica has been a part of El Tiempo for 12 years and has more than 15 years of professional experience in sales and Hispanic marketing.

Maria Cristina Matta-Caro was appointed editor of El Tiempo by Michael Hengel, editor-in-chief of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Stephens Media daily and weekly newspapers in nine states.

“I’m proud to put Maria in this position. She has worked very hard and has distinguished herself as an excellent local news reporter,” Hengel said. “I’m sure Maria will serve admirably all the readers of El Tiempo.”

Matta-Caro worked as a news reporter for the newspaper for about three years and has more than eight years of experience in multinational communication, journalism and public relations.
