Virgin Atlantic announces new flights between Las Vegas, England

Virgin Atlantic's new flights between Manchester, England, and Las Vegas will debut April 3.

In an email, a Virgin Atlantic representative said the airline expects the twice-weekly flights, first announced in April 2010, to bring in more than 46,000 international passengers each year and contribute more than $44 million annually toward Las Vegas.

As previously reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the new flights will give Virgin Atlantic nine direct flights a week between Las Vegas and England. Virgin Atlantic has been flying between London's Gatwick Airport and Las Vegas since June 2000.

The new service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays.

British Airways now offers one nonstop flight daily between McCarran and London's Heathrow Airport.
