The rumors are true: The Scintas are back and they’re heading for a new home in downtown Las Vegas.
Starting in April, the popular Buffalo, N.Y., musical family will be resident performers at The D, formerly Fitzgerald’s.
Family spokesman Frankie Scinta said there’s another exciting bit of news: his sister Chrissy will be rejoining the group after a year off following surgery on her vocal chords.
They’ll be performing in a 250-seat showroom, “the perfect size, our kind of audience,” said Frankie Scinta.
“The beauty of this is we’ll be able to do the hotel for three weeks a month and travel around country for a week and promote special deals at The D — and downtown — as the place to party.”
It’s the latest bold move by hotel owner Derek Stevens, who bought the Fitzgerald two years ago and changed the name.
He’s also added Joe Vitari’s Andiamo Italian steakhouse, a popular Detroit restaurant group.
The Scintas arrived in Las Vegas 13 years and have headlined at the Hilton (now The LVH), the Rio and the Sahara.
“There’s nothing like classic Vegas. We’ll have a horn section and the Scintas’ favorite characters. Derek Stevens is really stepping out for us. We knew the right deal would come along.”
Being on the road the past few years, “we’ve built a bigger and more loyal audience," he added. "Downtown is the place to be for all-around fun and entertainment.”
