Friends reconnect in touching 'Falling Together'

Charlotte Bronte once said, “If we would build on a sure foundation in friendship, we must love friends for their sake rather than for our own.”

It's been six years since Pen Calloway has been in touch with her close college friends, Cat and Will. Life carried on, but even through the birth of her daughter, the dissolution of her relationship and the death of her beloved father, Pen never stopped thinking about her old friends.

Pen, Cat and Will met during their first year of college and formed what seemed to be an unusually tight bond. But after college, they would see that close relationship fall apart as they each began to pursue their own dreams and lives.

So, when, after long years of silence, Pen receives an email from Cat with an urgent request to meet at their college reunion, she is befuddled but optimistic. Will Cat actually be there, and even more importantly (to Pen), will Will be there as well?

Will and Pen do reunite, and are as confused as the other on why they have been summoned. But instead of a happy reunion with their friend, Cat’s husband, Jason, appears demanding to know the whereabouts of his wife. It seems Cat has disappeared and left no clues as to where or why she has left her husband. Jason seems to think Pen and Will know where Cat has gone, considering their past closeness, but they haven’t seen or heard from her in years.

As Pen and Will struggle to uncover the hazy truth about Cat, they find more than they bargained for. They'll have to confront the reasons their friendship fell apart and discover if it can ever fall back together again. This journey will take them halfway around the world before they find all the answers.

With wit, romance and captivating characters, author Marissa de los Santos returns to the literary stage with her third book, “Falling Together,” an emotional and heartwarming novel about one of the most lasting human connections, true friendship.

In a brilliant display of storytelling, Santos explores the ties that bind in this enthralling tale that will touch the hearts of readers, and more than likely, have them scrambling for pen and paper, or the ever-present phone, to reconnect with their own friends.
