Newest Vegas Youtube ad features the ‘Krewellavator’

If you believe everything you’re told while watching Vegas’ newest ad on YouTube, tourists sometimes get greeted inside hotel elevators by famous DJs while a guy bobs his disco mirrorball helmet in their faces.

I do wish our elevator experiences were more like this new “Only in Las Vegas” ad that debuted on YouTube on Monday. It goes like this:

People walk up to an MGM Grand elevator. The doors open. They are very excited to be surprised by Krewella, one of the only female-fronted DJ acts in Las Vegas or the world.

Then comes the dancing dude wearing the mirrorball helmet, confetti falls, yada, and we viewers presume tourists the world over begin booking tickets to the MGM Grand elevator bank known in this commercial as “Krewellavator.”

However, as an amateur tech sleuth, my first thought was: Why is Krewella dragging around that horse-and-buggy MacBook, when they could be mixing on a tablet or a phone?

But it’s a fine, safe marketing moment from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for Krewella, a Chicago duo which regularly headlines the Strip’s Hakkasan monolith clubs, and will perform at Electric Daisy Carnival this weekend.

It’s a rare public spotlight for females in the DJ field, which is just about as male-centric as an NBA team on steambath day.
