Celebrate punk rock with these 5 shows

Punk Rock Bowling officially begins Friday, but the punk rock revelry won’t be confined to downtown where tipsy dudes with orange hair will be frightening Gold Nugget slot club members.

There’s a number of shows this weekend that will cater to the punk infusion that hits Las Vegas this time every year, and seeing as how both the Punk Rock Bowling festival and clubs shows are all sold out, this is a way to still get in on the fun.

Here’s five shows in particular that we recommend:

5. Did you know that clown punk is really a thing? Don’t believe us? See for yourself when The Yeastie Boys team up with Circus Jerks, The Buzzcuts and The STDs at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road. Free; call 702-791-5775.

4. SquidHat Records brings in ska punk favorites Voodoo Glow Skulls to headline their “11th Frame After Party,” which also features label signees Surround By Thieves, Guilty By Association and Signs of Threat along with Slow Children, at 9 p.m. Monday at Backstage Bar & Billiards, 601 Fremont St. Tickets are $5; call 702-382-2227.

3. Vegas metallic punk badasses the Loud Pipes reunite, with Neutralboy, OC 45, Grit & Gold and others, at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Double Down Saloon. Free.
