Hot dog hunts keep Taste of the Town readers busy

Hot dogs of one brand or another are without doubt one of the most popular items sought by Taste of the Town readers over the years. It’s either a case of the things we eat during the early part of our lives influencing our tastes, a yearning for the tastes of happier times or a combination of both. (Although I have to say I never get a craving for Kahn’s, “the wiener the world awaited.” The company, now owned by Sara Lee Corp., uses “The taste you’ve always loved,” and I think they’re on to something.)

Anyway, today we’re talking about Sabrett hot dogs, “the hot dogs New Yorkers relish,” being sought by Ken Anderson. So it’s only logical that the overwhelming mention by readers is for Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road, which specializes in New York products. Glazier’s was recommended by Mamie Glorioso, Libby Casolari, Steve Michaelson, Joyce Plumer and Roberta Shulman. Plumer also reported spotting them at Sprouts Farmers Market, which is at 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd., and Paula Newman found them at Albertsons at 2885 E. Desert Inn Road. ..

For Becky Edgeworth, Ann Brown faxed that Thomas’ Cinnamon-Raisin English Muffins can be found at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 5200 S. Fort Apache Road, and Joyce Gargan saw them at the Entenmann’s/Oroweat outlet store at 2548 Wigwam Parkway in Henderson. ...

For Bruce Benz, Angelica Orme emailed that Schweppes Bitter Lemon can be found at the International Marketplace, 5000 S. Decatur Blvd., adding, “It seems to be a favorite with the English.”...

More on bread mixes: Ilene Farr emailed that she spotted some at Smith’s at 9350 W. Flamingo Road. ...

And for all readers who have been looking for pasties (no, not the Las Vegas dancers’ accessory but the Midwestern version of the meat and vegetable pies), I’m told they’re being sold by A Simple Life, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., which carries myriad other food items. ...
