Jack Binion is returning to gaming — sort of.
The new steakhouse planned for the $400 million Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati will be known as Jack Binion’s Steak. It will be one of the casino’s four restaurants, which includes Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.
Binion, whose family owned Binion’s Horseshoe in Las Vegas and founded the World Series of Poker, left the downtown casino and formed Horseshoe Gaming back in the late 1990s. He sold the Horseshoe casinos brand to Harrah’s (now Caesars) Entertainment early last decade for more than $1 billion.
Later, Harrah’s acquired the downtown Binion’s Horseshoe, which it later sold, and the World Series of Poker.
Jack Binion made an appearance last week at the World Series of Poker at the Rio for Poker Hall of Fame induction ceremonies for the late Brian “Sailor” Roberts and longtime poker room manager Eric Drache.
Caesars Entertainment placed the Horseshoe name on the Cleveland casino it owns in partnership with Rock Gaming. The company will place the Horseshoe brand on its planned casino in Baltimore if a ballot question is approved by voters next week allowing the slot machine-only casino to add table games.
Jack Binion’s Steak will have seating for more than 200 customers in a dining room that offer views of the Cincinnati skyline.
“Jack Binion’s Steak will be a modern twist on a timeless classic,” said William Becker, Horseshoe Cincinnati’s vice president of food and beverage, referring to the Binion’s Steakhouse concept that is featured at most Horseshoe properties.
Rock Gaming and Caesars are developing the Horseshoe Cincinnati, which has planned opening next spring. The casino will have 2,000 slot machines, 85 table games and a World Series of Poker themed poker room.
The Horseshoe Cincinnati is expected to employ 1,700 workers.
