Cannery hires second Crown Ltd. executive

Cannery Casino Resorts has hired a second executive away from the Australian-based casino company that still holds an option to buy the local operator.

Lonnie Bossi has been named senior vice president of marketing and casino game strategy, Cannery officials announced Wednesday.

Bossi worked for Crown Ltd. as senior vice president of marketing and game strategy and executive general manager of marketing and game strategy and held positions in compliance, finance, marketing and gaming.

“I originally recruited Lonnie Bossi more than 15 years ago when I served as chief operating officer for Crown Casino in Australia,” Cannery co-owner Bill Paulos said in a statement. “He brings to Cannery Casino Resorts an incredible analytical and strategic background, which will serve our company well.”

Last week, Cannery announced it had hired Xavier Walsh, Crown's chief operating officer.

The hirings are part of Cannery’s new executive structure which will allow Paulos and co-principal William Wortman to back away from day-to-day operational control and focus on long-term strategic planning.

Crown Ltd. suspended its attempt to purchase the Cannery for $1.75 billion in March, but kept a two-year option to close the sale.
