March Madness at Bristol

After a week off, the Sprint Cup and Nationwide series take over Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

Could the layoff turn Sunday’s Jeff Byrd 500 into racing’s version of March Madness?

Speaking of the dribbling madness, could great basketball games on Sunday with the second round of the NCAA Tournament stop the Cup’s run of improved TV ratings?

It won’t help the momentum on Fox with hoops being shown on four networks.

In Las Vegas, it’s the second biggest weekend for sports books next to the Super Bowl.

Our local Bullring

I’ll be enjoying some short-track racing Saturday night but it will be at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring and not the half-mile track in Bristol.

It’s a very cheap night at LVMS: $10 admission for adults and a $1 menu at the concession stands. And the $1 Bull Dog tube steaks are pretty good.
