Teens bored by summer vacation still have an opportunity to write some fiction, work on a robot and practice Spanish or French. In the process, they can earn three hours of university credit.
The Summer Advanced Gifted Education (SAGE) program, which begins Monday, July 13, at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada, is accepting applications until 5 p.m. Friday.
The program’s coordinators decided to extend the deadline because space is still remaining in some classes like creative writing, summer robotics and foreign languages. Other classes include “Business entrepreneurship” and “Crafting the Actor.”
Sponsored by the UNLV Honors College, the program is geared to middle and school high school students who have grade-point averages of 3.0 and above or who are taking honors and advanced placement classes.
The program costs $875, which includes lunch and a parking pass to UNLV. Unfortunately, all the scholarships are gone.
