Sterlings civil enough for trip to Las Vegas

Looks like Shelly Sterling is spending some of the $2 billion she received for selling the Los Angeles Clippers on a 60th anniversary Las Vegas getaway with estranged husband Donald Sterling.

Yes, the same Donald Sterling, former Clippers owner, who barked at her in court in July, “Stay away from me, you pig!”

A photo of the Sterlings walking through Bellagio on Saturday with luggage appeared on Twitter about 5 p.m. It was posted by sportsbook blogger Tommy Lorenzo (@sportsbooktom), who said his brother took the photo.

Donald Sterling was forced to give up control of the team four months ago after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver invoked a lifetime ban and a $2.5 million fine for racist comments.

The decree ended Sterling’s 33-year ownership of the Clippers. His wife sold the club for $2 billion to a group headed by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Donald Sterling, who is 80, has contested the sale. The NBA Board of Governors approved the sale to Ballmer on Aug. 12.

His “pig” comment to his wife, who is also 80, came on the second day of his probate trial in Los Angeles.

When she was asked during the proceedings whether she was separated from Sterling, she responded, “Sort of.”
