Budget town hall tomorrow

Legislators are hosting a public forum on the budget in both Northern and Southern Nevada on Saturday.

The town hall meeting is intended to gather people's opinions about the state's fiscal situation and the budget the governor has proposed. The Southern Nevada forum is at 9 a.m. at the Grant Sawyer Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., room 4401.

It's hosted by Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford and Assemblyman Morse Arberry, both D-Las Vegas.

“Many Nevadans are deeply concerned about the budget shortfall and potential cuts to essential services,” Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley, D-Las Vegas, said in a news release on the forums. “We invite them to give input at our budget town hall on Saturday.”

“Legislators are still in the process of determining which programs we want to maintain,” Horsford added. “No final decisions have been made yet, so this is an opportunity for people to give their opinion on what basic services the state should keep.”
