Horsford gets national recognition

Nevada Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford, D-Las Vegas, gets some national recognition from The Root.

It’s an online magazine aimed at an African-American demographic.

It included Horsford, 36, on "The Root 100" list of influential people.

"The Root 100 is the manifestation of a core component of The Root’s mission—to bring to light people and ideas who are quietly having an impact on our lives and our communities," the magazine says of the list, which includes musician-entrepreneur-superstar Jay-Z and TV host Tavis Smiley.

Here’s a link to the cool graphic they made of all the people on the list. Horsford is in the fifth row down, at the eighth spot from the left, or third from the right.

"Horsford was a crucial early supporter of the Obama campaign, which has won him allies in high places should he opt to run for higher office," the magazine says.
