Horsford, Tarkanian combined to raise more than $800,000 in three months

Candidates in Nevada's new Congressional District 4 raised a combined $803,033 in the third quarter this year, according to financial contribution and expense reports.

Republican Danny Tarkanian raised the larger share, showing $414,092 in contributions to Democrat Steven Horsford's $388,941.

But Horsford's spending on campaign operating expenses during the quarter dwarfed Tarkanian's, with the Democrat showing $734,066 in operating expenditures to the Republican's $140,670.

Each campaign still has money to spend on the stretch run, with Tarkanian reporting $388,360 cash-on-hand at the close of the quarter to Horsford's $248,256.

For the year Horsford has raised nearly $1.3 million in contributions to $945,225 for Tarkanian.

The latest reports posted with the Federal Election Commission cover the period from July 1 to Sept. 30. They cover only candidate campaign fundraising and don't include money raised and spent by third-party groups seeking to influence the election outcome.
