Web site links stimulus info

Legislators have created a Web site with links to information about Nevada's share of the federal stimulus package. Located here, it centralizes such resources as the text of the federal legislation, state bills that are taking advantage of the funding, education funding fact sheets and agendas of upcoming legislative hearings related to stimulus funds.

It's mostly technical stuff, but the site provides a convenient go-to location for all these sources, and it amply illustrates the complexity of implementing the federal aid to the states. Check out the PDF linked at "Preliminary Estimates of Stimulus Funding," which breaks down the 48 different purposes into which Nevada's $1.5 billion is split.

Not available here is information on the governor's separate stimulus working group, which legislators have dismissed as not particularly relevant to their budgeting process.

In a news release today, Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley and Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford, both D-Las Vegas, said the stimulus Web site was a move toward accountability and transparency.
