They also broke a few records in the mean time. Both Tim Cornett and Devante Davis, who also happened to be high school teammates, surpassed 1000 yards rushing and 1000 yards receiving, respectively, in their career at UNLV. This is the first time in school history that has ever happened in the same year.
Coach Hauck getting the Gatorade bath in such cold conditions may have reminded him of his days at Montana, but he will be back to warmer weather in Las Vegas soon to celebrate. The Rebels still have one regular season game left, on Saturday, November 30 at Sam Boyd Stadium vs San Diego State. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be shown on ESPNU. It's not too late to get tickets to be there to show your support for the football team. We won't be having a tailgate for that game, since prior to the football game, the Runnin' Rebels have a game 8 miles up Tropicana at the Thomas and Mack. It will be a fun day for UNLV fans with a double header. The Rebels will find out on December 8 if and what bowl they will go to.
But before that, the the Runnin' Rebels will host Illinois on Tuesday, November 26 at 7:45 p.m. That game is on the CBS Sports Network.
The Runnin' Rebels lost a very intense game at home earlier this week to Arizona State, 86-80. The crowd was amazing and the players played their best game yet this year, but it wasn't enough when one of ASU's players went "Kobe" on us, scoring 40 points. There are no moral victories in basketball, but I do like the improvement that I've seen over the first few games at the Mack.
(P.S. I'm including a picture of a replica cannon that some of my coworkers created for a pumpkin decorationg contest. It was given to me Halloween evening and I swore I was keeping it in my courtyard until we won another game. I guess I can finally get rid of that rotten pumpkin now!)
