Adelson Hospice fundraiser features Khan fashion show

Clothing designs by Naeem Khan were featured during the annual Flair for Care fashion show and luncheon April 8 at Wynn Las Vegas to benefit Nathan Adelson Hospice.

In 2014, Nathan Adelson Hospice provided comprehensive and compassionate hospice services to 2,176 patients and their loved ones.

The hospice has distributed close to $1 million in uncompensated care to members of our community who are uninsured or underinsured and without financial resources.

The hospice services were provided in the patient’s home or in one of the Nathan Adelson Hospice inpatient facilities.

The luncheon commenced at 10:30 a.m. with a Champagne reception. Guests spent an hour looking over items and packages available through opportunity tickets. Drawings of the winning tickets took place during the luncheon. The ticket prices were $25 each or $100 for a gold ticket, $250 for platinum tickets and $500 for a diamond ticket.

There were 93 items in the $25 category, such as a Judith Leiber minaudiere, a Roberto Cavalli red python clutch, Southern Wine &Spirits gift basket, a $500 Barney’s gift card, a $1,000 Manolo Blahnik gift card, a two-night stay at the Four Seasons, and two tickets to see Mariah Carey at Caesars.

Examples of what 22 gold ticket holders could win included a two-night stay at Montage Laguna Beach, two tickets to “Dancing with the Stars” and Sunday brunch at the Peninsula Beverly Hills.

The 11 platinum ticket winners could win Breakfast at Tiffany’s for 10 including a Tiffany gift, best seats for all the big fall concerts, a fashion presentation at Vasari in Tivoli Village, and lunch at Echo &Rig with fashion expert Steven Cojocaru, known as Cojo.

There were seven diamond opportunity tickets, including an ultimate Wynn Las Vegas Golf Experience. The winning names were flashed on four video screens.

The Flair for Care Luncheon was led by chairwomen Susan Molasky, Jane Schorr, Sharon Jenkins and Beth Weinberger.

Carole Fisher, president and CEO of Nathan Adelson Hospice, welcomed the 540 guests and spoke about the hospice services. Janie Greenspun Gale also talked about the hospice.

Master of ceremonies was comedian Brad Garrett.

Enjoying the affair were Elaine Wynn, Nancy Houssels, Madeleine Andress, Susan Sullivan, Phyllis Binion, Bonnie Bryan, Nancy Shepherd, Beth Barbre, Michael Shulman, Janice Allen, Josie Snow, Lynn Buchanan, Gloria Fine, Shelli Lowe, Linda Chambliss, Marcia Chami, Julie Gleason, Charlotte Besuden, Cathie Millson and Debbi Cook.

The fashion show was extraordinary. Naeem Khan from Mumbai, India, is based in New York. His designs have been worn by many celebrities and first lady Michelle Obama. His summer evening collection featured gorgeous beadwork, intricate embroidery and floral appliques.

A three-course luncheon with selected wines followed the fashion show.
