Here's a bit of telling irony for you. Now from several -- several -- sources within the Obama transition team that staffers have been told that anyone caught leaking internal goings on to the press will be fired.
It took a little less than a nanosecond for leaks about leaking to, well, leak.
This has pretty much been the routine within the Obama transition team thus far. The press received multi-leaks about Rahm Emanuel set to become chief of staff, details of the Hillary Clinton meeting and various other topics. In fact, it seems just about anything internal Obama talks about with his transition team, somebody on his staff immediately leaks.
Now, far be it from me as a card-carrying member of the media to begrudge leaks.
But here's the rub. America needs the Obama administration to hit the ground running on Jan. 20 and we need Obama to be effective on the economy. Obama said he could fix the economy. Obama said it would be his No. 1 priority. If Team Obama can't keep small secrets when things are going well, can you imagine the gushing leaks when times get tough?
Obama needs to fix this.
