Sunrise Hospital is proud to announce the availability of a new minimally invasive technology for treating chronic sinus inflammation, Balloon Sinuplasty. Through the Minimally Invasive Sinus Program at Sunrise Hospital, this breakthrough procedure relieves the pain and pressure associated with chronic sinusitis.
Sunrise said in a statement with Balloon Sinuplasty, a specially designed catheter is inserted into the nose to reach the inflamed sinus. A small balloon is slowly inflated, which widens and restructures without cutting. The balloon is then removed, leaving the sinuses open.
This procedure is less invasive than conventional sinus surgery allowing patients to quickly return to normal activities. It also eliminates much of the discomfort associated with routine sinus surgery like scarring, bleeding and severe pain. This procedure is available for both adults and children and prevents the reoccurrence of the disease.
To help introduce our new Balloon Sinuplasty program, Sunrise is offering a free community education program on “Sinus Issues and Solutions”, featuring Dr. Terrance Kwiatkowski, Otolaryngologist at Sunrise Hospital at 6 p.m. May 31. The program will be held at the Sunrise Hospital Auditorium, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway. The program is free and open to the public, but registration is required by calling 233-5454.
