(Cirque du) ‘Batman Live’ coming in October

Looks like Cirque du Soleil got beat to the (Pow!) punch on the Best. Idea. Ever: a Batman-themed Cirque.

The good news is someone else is doing it. "Batman Live" will play the Thomas & Mack Center Oct. 3-7 and it looks like the Best. Show. Ever.

Tickets go on sale Friday. Even though it will be another bat-mania summer with "The Dark Knight Rises" movie, the Thomas & Mack folks say they won't be able to promote this show during the summer, lest there be confusion between Christopher Nolan's dark, gritty take on Batman and ... this.

The creative director, Anthony Van Laast, has Las Vegas ties. He was one of the directors on Siegfried & Roy's show at The Mirage and then worked on "EFX" at the MGM Grand.
