Diners can get a deal on food at Chipotle Mexican Grill and help feed hungry children - not just their own hungry kids; children in need.
The Henderson-based Caring 4 Kids Foundation will get 100 percent of the proceeds at a pre-opening fundraiser to launch the new Chipotle inside the Sahara Pavilion at Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. Hungry patrons are invited to visit the restaurant from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 7, pay $5 at the door and then select their favorite from Chipotle's menu of burritos, burrito bowls, tacos or salads.
Supporters also can meet and collect autographs from the members of the Las Vegas Kings football team.
Caring 4 Kids, founded by local resident Scott Sullivan, started out as the Corps of Compassion. Sullivan originally created the nonprofit to help people hurt and left homeless as a result of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. With that mission accomplished, the organization changed missions and now works to feed 600 local Las Vegas children in-need every week. According to the Caring 4 Kids Web site, www.caring4kidsfoundation.org, the organization has delivered more than 50,000 weekend bags of food to in-need school children.
Following the fundraiser, the new Chipotle at 2540 S. Decatur Blvd. will open for regular business on Friday, May 8. The restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
