Parent-Teacher Conferences Week

November 2, 3, 4, and 5 has been set aside as Parent-Teacher Conference Days. Students will be dismissed, at 11:45 am each of those days. Morning Kindergarten will meet between 8:45 am and 10:05 am; Afternoon Kindergarten will meet between 10:25 am and 11:45 am. If you have not already scheduled your conference time, please contact your child’Äôs teacher at 799-4740.

A parent-teacher conference and continued communication throughout the year are crucial toward your child’Äôs academic success and emotional well-being. Hoggard PTSA hopes the article sent home last week from the October issue of Our Children, the National PTA Magazine, by Ginny Markell, National PTA President, provides assistance in your conference.

999-2000 National PTA Reflections Theme:
"Anything Is Possible"

The National PTA encourages all children to pursue creativity and artistic expression through arts education and participation in the arts. Through its annual cultural arts program, Reflections, the National PTA offers students opportunities to create special works of art for fun and recognition. Students are encouraged to create and submit works of art in four areas: literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).

Each year, Reflections challenges students to create art that supports a specific theme. The theme this year is "Anything is Possible." The grade divisions for competition are Primary (K-2) and Intermediate (3-5). Students maysubmit as many entries as they want. Packets with rules and guidelines will be available in November.

The entry deadline will be in January. PTSA will sponsor a Reflections Fair after all the entries are collected and judged. Judges will select winners in each category for each division. These winning entries will receive a cash award and will be forwarded to the state level for competition. All participants will receive a certificate. Keep in mind: "Anything Is Possible!"

Hoggard ptsa book fair week

Take a moment to check out the book fair in the Library before and after school during the week of Parent/Teacher Conferences. All books are "buy one, get one free." This is not a fund-raiser.
