Sock Hop Rocks!

PTSA's first Family Night was a Sock Hop held on Friday, September 24th. Most students dressed in 50's and 60's attire. (Some were even dressed in 70's attire, imagine that!) It was a special treat to see parents join the fun and dress up as well. Stacey Pena, PTSA Historian, won the hula hoop contest and Phyllis Harris was the hands-down winner of the twist contest.
The disc jockey was superb; he really knew his tunes. Students participated in a limbo contest and chewed enough bubble gum to blow a bubble to the moon! Nobody wanted the night to end. Thanks to all who attended and made the night such a huge, family success!

Why Should YOU Be Involved?

Programs designed with strong parental involvement produce students who perform better than otherwise identical programs that do not involve parents. Children whose parents help them at home and stay in touch with the school score higher than children of similar aptitude and family background whose parents are not involved.
One of the very best predictors of success in school and throughout life is whether a child's parents or the significant adult in the child's life is involved in her or his education.

One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.
