Welcome, Mr. Chapman
We are pleased to welcome our Principal for the 1999-2000 school year. Mr. Jim Chapman is a native Las Vegan, a graduate of UNLV, and has been in CCSD for 25 years. Seventeen of those years have been in administrative positions at both the elementary and secondary levels. He has been Principal at Beatty Elementary in Henderson for the past four and a half years. To help children be successful in school, it's important for teachers and parents to have a clear-cut idea of what skills their children should master by a specific age or grade level. The U.S. Department of Education has made "Checkpoints for Progress in Reading and Writing" available at their website (www.ed.gov) or by calling 1-800-USA-LEARN. This free information includes what skills a child should have at a variety of ages and grade levels, suggestions on how to help the child, and book recommendations for children at each age level.
