JOB SEARCH SKILLS WORKSHOP
To lead the participants in their effort to attain self sufficiency the Life Skills Department offers a Job Search Skills workshop. This is held every three weeks, and lasts a duration of ten days (2 hours per day).
A benchmark before entering the Job search Skills Workshop is the completion of a Vocational Evaluation. MASH Village has chosen to aid it's Villagers via the COPES System. This is a three part assessment in which clients are given insight into their job opportunities by comparing their aptitudes, interests and work values to those already working in thousands of different vocations. Thus MASH Village may be able to help them find a job in a career field which they may find rewarding.
The objective of the Job Search Skills Workshop is to teach Villagers the life long tools needed to discover their skills, choose a career goal, and market themselves to the employers of the community. This last part includes learning to fill out application forms, making a resume, practicing job interview skills, and organization an efficient job search..
Finally after working through the Vocational Evaluation and the Job Search Skills Workshop the Villagers are sent on to the Job Developer who uses connections with the area employers to help the Villager obtain gainful employment. Mindful that the Villager is also expected to conduct a full job search on their own as much as possible.
