One person dies, woman arrested in Saturday crash in Pahrump

One person died early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Pahrump.

In a statement issued Sunday, the Nye County sheriff’s office said deputies were dispatched at 4 a.m. to Dandelion and Honeysuckle Street in Pahrump for a vehicle collision. Police said one vehicle had been traveling westbound on Honeysuckle Street, and one was traveling northbound on Dandelion Street before the crash.

The Honeysuckle Street driver was transported by ambulance to Desert View Hospital. The Dandelion Street driver was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas and was pronounced dead.

That Honeysuckle Street driver, Ashley Winn, was intoxicated and was at fault vehicle in the accident, police said, having failed to heed a stop sign.

After her release from Desert View Hospital, Winn was arrested by the Nevada Highway Patrol and charged her with DUI resulting in death, DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and failing to stop at a stop sign.

Winn was transported to the Nye County Detention Center and booked. Her bail was set at $200,240 and she was released on her own recognizance.
