3 men rob Las Vegas gas station, ditch getaway car on Summerlin Parkway

Las Vegas police are searching for three men who robbed a central valley gas station at gunpoint Tuesday night, then ditched their stolen getaway car on the Summerlin Parkway.

The robbery happened just before 10:20 p.m. at the Sinclair at 3280 S. Decatur Blvd., on the northeast corner of the Desert Inn Road intersection, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.

One of the men fired a single shot into the air as he entered the store, Gordon said. The three then ordered everyone inside to get on the ground and demanded the station’s clerk open the register.

The men made off with an unknown amount of money, driving away in a red, Honda four-door vehicle that had been reported stolen, Gordon said.

Officers spotted the stolen getaway car on Jones Boulevard, just north of the U.S. Highway 95 overpass. But when officers tried to stop the car, the three suspects ditched the car and ran away.

During the chase, the stolen vehicle collided with another car, but no injuries were reported, Metro spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

As officers searched for the men on foot, Gordon said the men “got back in” the same stolen getaway car and drove north on U.S. Highway 95, headed toward Summerlin Parkway.

On the parkway, the three again ditched the car and ran away.

“A perimeter was set up and an extensive search of the areas was conducted with the assistance of the air unit and K-9, however the suspects were not located,” Gordon said about 3 a.m. Wednesday. The search included the area of Buffalo Drive and Rainbow Boulevard.

Metro’s robbery section is investigating the incident. The robbers are described as three Hispanic males in their late teens to early 20s.
