Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles winner of
Least Effective Public Agency
in the Reader's poll.

Gee, what a surprise, considering how the DMV won this category last year, too, and for years before that. So maybe it's time to delve deeper and examine the psychology of your annual hatred of the DMV. Maybe it's because we car-loving Nevadans resent anything or anybody that comes between us and our God-given right to a ride. Maybe it's because of some deep-rooted dislike of authority projected onto an agency all of us must deal with at least once a year. Maybe ... ah, forget it. You hate the DMV, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department came in second, but we're not gonna say a single smart-alecky thing about it.
