HABIB'S (Persian)19
4750 W. Sahara Ave.
Las Vegas
702-870-0860

Food Category: Ethnic
Area: Southwest
Price: $10 - $20
Hours: lunch 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. dinner 5-10 p.m. closed Sun.

This bright and airy restaurant in the Sahara Pavilion serves some of the better Middle Eastern cuisine in the city. Try some of the traditional dishes such as hummus, tabouleh, kebabs and dolma (stuffed grape leaves). For a tasty introduction into Persian cooking, try the khoresht fesenjan (chicken marinated in pomegranate juice then stewed with pomegranate seeds and crushed walnuts).

I am ashamed that a fellow Persian can be so ignorant and rude. Habib himself runs all the tables with hour-long waits; he is rude and very disrespectful. While I was there with my mother, he kicked a family with small children out of his restaurant because their kid spilled his drink repeatedly. While rudely instructing the husband of the family to get out, he snatched the menu from the guy’s wife. During this whole ordeal he kicked out another group for "disobeying" him and not waiting at the door. I am Persian, and I am ashamed to say that this is the worst restaurant in Vegas. Only go there if you want to be disrespected and abused. The food is also heat lamped as it took a mere 5 seconds from me ordering it to be ready. Also check your receipt this guy has a reputation for double charging.

On a Tuesday night, the crowd was small. Our food and service was excellent. We even had the opportunity to visit with Habib. This was the first time any of us in our group had tried Persian food before. The photos and waiter's descriptions were very helpful. There is a lot of meat on the menu. However, for this vegetarian the hammus and Persian salad I tried were fabulous. We will go back for another Ladies night out!

They deserve the terrible reputation they are currently enjoying, some of the staff seem to think they have inherited Habib's legendary rudeness, stay away!
