The modest storefront cafe has a pleasing dining room and attentive servers who can help you through the 120 Thai and Chinese menu offerings. Be attentive when they point out the spicy items, which can be downright incendiary, especially if you're not familiar with Thai cooking. Among the Thai specialties, there are a variety of curries -- mixed vegetables, pork, beef, chicken, green beans, even pineapple and bean curd. Most are on the spicy side so proceed with caution. The noodle dishes, pad Thai, rice noodles and Singapore noodles (shrimp, chicken and rice vermicelli) are all good choices. Orchid also does flavorful renditions of Thai barbecued chicken, pan fried noodles, Thai and yum-yai salad, satay and Thai fish cakes.

| Bangkok Orchid is one of my favorite Thai restaurants. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food is wonderful. I especially like the yellow curry with its potatoes and soothing coconut milk. They have a very respectable mee krob and coconut chicken soup too. I found the service to be prompt, although one time, the entree came almost immediately after the appetizer. I joke that one of the reasons I come to Vegas so often from Texas is to visit this restaurant. |

| I like spicy food!! But I especially like getting a good bowl of hot spicy noodles and I can't find them everywhere. They didn't have it on Bangkok Orchid's menu, but I asked about it, and they accommodated me by building a wonderful bowl of noodles. But YES, it is really spicy, so be careful what you ask for. it's a plain looking restaurant, nothing fancy. Good to go to when you're just looking for an out-of-the way place that has something different, and you don't want to wait a half hour to sit down - like the other places around the area. Or call ahead and take out. |

| I would have to agree with the review posted in the Review Journal. Two of us enjoyed the lunch special at the reasonable price of $5.50 for a set including rice, soup, a small side and the entree. Though the food was not neither great nor poor, (mint chicken for myself and green curry for my friend) my dining companion received their meal 15 minutes before I did and we did not receive even the slightest apology!
I cannot recomend the Bangkok Orchid, as there are many better Thai restaurants with better food and service in town. I hope that the service improves as the choices for Thai food on that side of town are few and far between! |
