I'm on vacation and sick in bed with a cold, but entertainment news never stops, so:
■ Look for Lindsay Lohan to pop into finer restaurants and shopping boutiques this weekend. Lohan, star of People magazine, is in town to pick up compensation for walking a red carpet at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Caesars' club Pure. Let the rubbernecking commence in the hallway.
This week, she told the Sun of London: "I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances. ... Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything, and I can feel emotions because I choose to.
"If I wasn't with Samantha (Ronson), I would probably be with a boy next. She's the only woman I've been attracted to. We love each other. We might reconcile the relationship, maybe."
■ Lohan's carpet comes after Mariah Carey sings Saturday at the Colosseum.
Carey sang at the Palms in September, when Review-Journal critic Jason Bracelin graded her a "B."
Bracelin said Carey is "a sequin come to life" and is classy like silk underwear and Ron Burgundy. She's doing "current material where the hormones are perpetually at high tide."
■ Great people-watching: NASCAR fans are all over downtown and the Strip, getting ready for this weekend's races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. For more, check out the Sports section.
■ Best bet: The fuzz-guitar weirdo-rock of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, at 9:30 p.m. Sunday at Wasted Space at the Hard Rock ($20).
■ More paid celebrity appearances: Pierre Thomas and Lance Moore of the New Orleans Saints pose on a red carpet at 11 tonight at Palazzo's club Lavo. Kim Kardashian promotes perfume by walking a red carpet at 10 p.m. Saturday at Venetian's club Tao. ...
■ For Saturday's fundraiser at the Bellagio for the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, a 5:30 p.m. red carpet promises Danny DeVito, Buzz Aldrin, Brad Garrett, Leeza Gibbons, Wolfgang Puck and Thomas Keller.
■ Iyaz sings "Replay" after an 11:30 p.m. red carpet at Bellagio club Bank.
■ "American Idol" guy Larry Platt appears after midnight tonight at Mirage club Jet. ... Ciara gets her carpet on after midnight Saturday at CityCenter club Haze.
