Gallery displays ‘American Shunga’

Sin City Gallery will present "American Shunga," featuring artists Nick San Pedro and Geonni Banner, today through April 24.

An artists' reception will be at 7 p.m. today at the gallery in The Arts Factory, 107 E. Charleston Blvd., Suite 100. The event will feature live body painting by San Pedro. Further details are available by calling 608-2461.

"American Shunga" embraces Japanese traditional eroticism with a dreamlike quality that is delicately veiled by the aesthetics of modern construction.

San Pedro is known for his commissioned portraits of iconic celebrities .

Banner is a photographer who captures cultures and traditions of everyday life through the action of color. Her modern shunga is created by the juxtaposition of her own photography integrated with the works of shunga masters.
