Get ready for beer now and beer later with a pair of festivals


Beer: Brew’s Best, a festival of craft beers from locally and nationally based breweries, will open the taps from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Village at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson. Tickets, $25 in advance or $30 at the gate, provide for samples of up to 90-plus beers, and a mug. VIP tickets, which are $40, allow for 1 p.m. meet-the-brewers entry. Go to www.NewVistaNV.org. …

And more beer: Tickets are on sale for the Great Vegas Festival of Beer, 4 to 8 p.m. April 26 in the Fremont East Entertainment District. The event will include samples of up to 250 beers from more than 80 breweries, plus “focus areas” for mixology, beer-inspired culinary menus and other educational and interactive exhibits, and live music. Tickets start at $30 for general admission, $40 for early entry and $70 for VIP. Go to www.GreatVegasBeer.com. …

Tickets also are on sale for the 40th anniversary celebration of UNLVino, April 9-12. Events will start with Sip &Savor at Spago, followed by a barbecue at the Caesars Palace Garden of the Gods Pool, Bubble-Licious at The Venetian and the Grand Tasting at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health; proceeds go toward scholarships at UNLV’s William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. Tickets, which range from $100 to $275, are available at UNLVTickets.com. …

Jane Lee of Jadon Foods will offer samples from her gluten-free bakery and discuss gluten-free recipes from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Williams-Sonoma at 1001 S. Rampart Blvd. …

Sunday is, believe it or not, National Meatball Day. To celebrate, Trevi at the Forum Shops at Caesars, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering a number of specials: pasta and marinara with meatballs for $15, wood-fired meatball pizza for $10, two jumbo meatballs for $5, a meatball sub for $15 and the Spaghetti Ice dessert for $8.50. …

Whisk(e)y Wednesdays are back beginning this week at Andre’s at the Monte Carlo, 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. South, with Irish as the March theme. It’s $35 per person; call 702-798-7151.
