Julia Roberts stars in 'Eat Pray Love'

Movie: "Eat Pray Love"

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Julia Roberts, Javier Bardem, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Viola Davis, Richard Jenkins

Director: Ryan Murphy

The story: After trying (and failing) to become pregnant, a woman realizes she's not getting what she wants out of life, undergoes a painful divorce -- and takes off on an around-the-world quest for spiritual, and personal, renewal.

The buzz: This adaptation of Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling memoir reunites Julia Roberts with "Ocean's Eleven" (and "The Mexican") co-star Brad Pitt -- but only off-screen, because Pitt's one of several executive producers on the project. It's also a reunion for director Murphy ("Running With Scissors") and co-screenwriter Jennifer Salt, who previously wrote and produced for Murphy's hit cable series "Nip/Tuck." Since then, Murphy has moved on to another successful small-screen gig: as creator, writer, executive producer and sometime director of Fox's gotta-sing, gotta-dance series "Glee."
